In October 1988, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed October as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
For hundreds of years, lighting a candle has been a way to show respect for those who have died. This beautiful gesture shows that although someone may be gone from this world, their memory will endure, and the light of their flame will continue to inspire and guide others.
In 1997, Worldwide Candle Lighting Day was established and is better known today as The Wave of Light. Beginning at 7pm, individuals, families, and organizations in their local time zone will light candles, and keep them lit for at least one hour, creating a ‘Wave of Light’.
This year, we invite you to join us
October 15th, on International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day,
as NICU Helping Hands hosts a Virtual Remembrance Ceremony in honor of the little ones who lit up our lives, no matter how briefly.
Please send your child’s name to us and it will be read out loud during our Virtual Remembrance Ceremony and a luminary will be lit in their memory.
With your donation of $25 towards the NICU Helping Hands Angel Gown Program you will receive a Glass Remembrance Candle which will be shipped directly to the address of your choosing.
If this is a gift, a gift note can be added along with the candle.
