SPENCER GRUBBS

Co-Founder

NICU Helping Hands Youth Ambassador Council

Welcome! My name is Spencer Grubbs, and I am the co-founder of NICU Helping Hands’ Youth Ambassador Council. I am really excited that you are interested in joining the Council and wanted to share the reasons I believe serving families in our local community is so important.

I truly believe that serving others with a grateful heart is one of the most rewarding experiences. My volunteer experiences with local organizations and international mission teams have taught me that the small differences we make in the lives of those around us are just as meaningful as those that can be made overseas or in different communities. Choosing and investing in a local project and seeing the continuous positive effects that a small group of young individuals can have on the lives of those in need around us was my inspiration behind the Youth Ambassador Council.

NICU Helping Hands’ Youth Ambassador Council involves thirty high school students, from different backgrounds and life experiences, connecting with each other and working towards the common goal of changing outcomes for families affected by the hospitalization of their critically ill baby in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). I am so thankful to have been able to start this program, and I am proud to see the impact it has already had on the NICU community. I look forward to the growth of this endeavor as new and familiar faces join to serve. If you have any questions do not hesitate to email me at [email protected].Thank you for your interest in this program, and I look forward to welcoming you soon.

Sincerely,

Spencer Grubbs, Co-Founder

ALEXIS GORDON

Co-Founder

NICU Helping Hands Youth Ambassador Council

My name is Alexis Gordon, and I am a co-founder of NICU Helping Hands’ Youth Ambassador Council. I am very excited about this opportunity and it is my hope that together, we will impact our local community in an area that is near and dear to my heart. I would like to explain why this mission is so important to me.

When I was 7 years old my brother and sister were born premature at 24 weeks gestation. It was a very scary time for my whole family and at the time, there was no family support being offered. As a sibling in the NICU, I always found myself worried about not only my brother and sister, but also about the toll it was taking on my parents. I believe that this program is so important for our community and I envision our Youth Ambassador Council making a difference by raising awareness in our community about the many struggles that families face during their NICU journey. I firmly believe that together we can make a difference for these families.

This year’s Youth Ambassador Council will consist of 30 highly motivated and dedicated high school students from the DFW area. Together we will organize and run events, actively volunteer, and inform our community about the needs of our NICU families.

I hope to hear from you soon. Please email me at [email protected] with the subject line “Youth Ambassador Council” if you have any additional questions.
